Kevin Vandersmissen wins 2012 Irish Open
Noted tournament pro Kevin Vandersmissen defeated a 502-player field to win the 2012 Irish Open Main Event along with €420,000.
This was certainly no easy feat because the field was stacked with a number of top professional players such as Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Maria Ho, Freddy Deeb and James Dempsey.

However, Vandersmissen wasn't phased as he grabbed the chip lead towards the end of the tournament. He took this lead into a heads-up match with Thomas Beer, and didn't seem to have much trouble dispatching Beer to win the event.
After winning the tourney, Kevin Vandersmissen collected his largest career cash, and added to what is a very impressive career that includes a second place finish in the 2011 EPT Snowfest and a win in the 2010 Full Tilt Poker Grand Final in Barcelona. The Belgian now has $1,454,550 in career winnings.
